In tVB 26:3. TRAINING AS A KEY TO A GREATER FUTURE, I promised to show you one interesting case study evidencing the Self-Motivated Training Formula.
Daniel: A Hebrew Slave
Sometime around 605 BC. Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon attacked Judah and took certain Jews of noble descent into captivity, including Daniel. Daniel’s life was marked by many challenges, but the good news is that he overcame every one of them. You’ll find his story in the book of Daniel, Chapter 1:1-9 (Ref: The Holy Bible)
As expected, slaves have no choice. But Daniel had an attitude or sense of freedom in mind and his slavery became an opportunity to attain prominence. Daniel’s life demonstrated that, with God, you can overcome any problem that life throws at you.
Scenario:
Daniel was expected to behave as all the chosen young men did,
but he opted out at a risky price.
The greatest works are done by the ones. The hundreds do not often do much, the companies never; it is the units, the single individuals, that are the power and the might. CHARLES HADDON SPURGEON
Decide for once in life to stand apart from the mediocre, the regular and the usual. Do something different.
Lesson 1: You don't have to follow the bandwagon. Choose to stand out.
Scenario: Daniel bargained and exchanged his comfort and safety for his goal. He opted for vegetables over the dainties apportioned them from the king's table. On test day, he and his three colleagues were found to be ten times more effective than their competitors.
Lesson 2: Be willing to choose what your preferred tomorrow requires over the the dressed-up mediocrity that your present situation presents.
Daniel was just a slave, to be seen and not heard. But he spoke
out… and those seemingly ordinary words made him the most outstanding palace
official.
Lesson 3: State your ideas and proposals regardless of your status. Someone who matters to your destiny and dream just might hear them. Rev. A. Nance once said, “Failure can be divided into those who thought and did nothing, and those who did something but didn't think”
Lesson 3b: Don't be afraid to be different. The 'odd thing' you boldly do just might be the someone's much-sought-after answer. At least suggest your idea.
Scenario: Daniel was known for his habits. He prayed three times every day. What are you known for? And then do you feel disadvantaged because of a good habit? Don't!
Lesson 4: Develop & be known for constructive habits.
Lesson 5: Be ready to stand up for what is right.
Scenario: King Darius was sleepless all night, couldn't eat. He could vouch for his integrity.
Lesson 6: Will anyone stick their head out for you?
Endeavour to give yourself concise answers now. At the end of the day, your impact on people, even more than the organization's financial bottom line, is what you will be remembered by!
